I'm going to start this post off with something you should note: I am a lazy skincare person.
also: I am addicted to aesop.
So we have established I am super lazy when it comes to skincare, right? Okay. Now we must also establish that 3 out of 4 of the products are Aesop. Nope, not sponsored (in my dreams) I am just a genuinely big fan of everything they do as a company. High quality natural products, amazing design, beautiful stores and you get free testers. I have always loved using natural products, I even had a phase when I made loads of skincare products myself using beeswax and oils and butters and all that stuff (some of you may remember if you have been here for a while).
Aesop is not budget friendly so thankfully I don't even have one in New Zealand (I think that's about to change but I still won't be anywhere close, sigh). Do bare in mind that these products do last for a really long time, I have had both the cleanser and body balm since I went to Melbourne in February and they're still going with regular use, so you're getting what you pay for. Unless you're someone like my mum who absolutely smothers herself in hand cream about 5 times a day, in which case you may be out sooner.
Anyway, on with the post! These are the top four products I love to use regularly. I have tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, including what I think is most important like the smell, my personal experience with the product and why you may find your next fave!
Also want to note: I never really hear actual reviews on this kind of stuff, for example everyone just kind of 'has' that pink Aesop hand cream on instagram but you never hear what it's like! I know I would have liked to have known before I bought all this stuff, so I hope it helps!
Aesop Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm
smells like: warm vanilla
This is by far my favourite all-round moisturising product. It is also my favourite smelling - since I am obsessed with vanilla based scents.
I use this mostly as a hand cream and just so you know I am super picky when it comes to them. I can't deal with creams that stay sticky and oily after you apply them but with this one you can actually feel it sink in and make a difference.
Not to mention I love the colour of the packaging for this one and it's a bit bigger (120mL) than the hand creams (75mL) and cheaper too! Personally I love this one more than the popular pink Aesop hand cream (Resurrection Aromatique) which has a floral scent that I don't like as much.
try this product if: you need a really good hand cream, you prefer vanilla scents over floral
Aesop Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream
smells like: herbs, cinnamon, nutty
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about this cream is that it's super thick, concentrated and really really hydrating. The skin on my face is so random, some days my face is as dry as a desert and some it's super oily. Most days it's patches of both - around my nose is oily but on my nose is dry, so if I were to self-diagnose my skin type I would say I have combination skin. Just if you wanted to know.
I apply this on my 'dry skin days' and days when my skin needs a little loving. You only need the tiniest amount so this pot is going to last me years I swear. It smells good, feels good and I haven't reacted to it so that's a bonus.
try this product if: you have dry, sensitive skin and you need a kick of moisture
Grown Alchemist Vanilla & Watermelon Lip Balm
smells like: watermelon
This is my most recent addition to my favourites list. I was sceptical when I read what the scent was, considering it's a natural product and most watermelon scents are artificial - but it really does smell like watermelon!
One big thing though - in no way whatsoever is this a lip balm. It is 100% a lip gloss. It's tricky to apply if you don't like using your fingers (I always have excess left on my finger so most often I wipe it on my hand) and when you first open it, be prepared because boy it flows out like nobody's business.
Personally I love the look of lip glosses at the moment so I am happy to have a bit of shine.
try this product if: you love lip glosses, and the smell of watermelon!
Aesop Fabulous Face Cleanser
smells like: herbs
I loovveee using this on my oily days, makeup days or just days when I feel gross (tmi?). When I want that squeaky clean feeling, this is perfect and yet never makes my skin feel stripped of natural oils etc.
It's quite satisfying to apply because it's like a gel and also does work to remove makeup. It foams up if you rub it in enough too.
This is the product I have been using for the longest and I still feel like it's a treat to my skin.
try this product if: you want a gentle cleanser
I hope you guys found this post useful in some way, like I said before I wish I had known more about certain products before I bought them because they aren't cheap. I definitely have a few things I regret buying. If there is anything I missed out and you want to know, just leave a comment.
Also, hope you like my little illustrations! I wanted to try out something different instead of just taking photos of each product.
