Hooray, part 2!!
This part is about setting up your Blogger blog, making sure your name is available, setting up a matching gmail account and social media.
SO, from part 1, you have decided a name, what you will be blogging about and what you need to start! What's next?
Check your name is available
on Blogger by typing it like this into your browser:
If a window shows up saying 'Blog not found' and a button saying register this blog, you are ready to go!
For the future, check godaddy.com and search for
.com. If it is available then great! Either buy it now if you are 100% certain that your name will stick with you, or wait until your blog has developed to change the URL.
Set up your Blogger & Gmail account
You will need to make a new google account so that you can make a custom email for your blog. The best option is
@gmail.com. With your new account, you can register your blog name/URL.
Start with the Simple Template
Select the simple template as it is clean and fresh, ready for your super design! Remove the nabber under Layout>Nav Bar>Remove, then the other sidebar widgets in the same way.
Set up social media accounts
Set up your chosen social media accounts with the same name every time. Try not to use underscores or numbers where possible, because readers will not search for those on google when looking for you!
Great! You have your basics down... next step is to personalise! Design - my favourite part!
Stay tuned for Part 3!
I hope you are finding this series useful, and once it is finished watching them all in a row should make sense! Good luck!
