DIY tea tree lip balm

Hello again...

Today I will be showing you how to make my most favourite thing in the world... Lip balm! I literally have an obsession! Also, since you know I have a thing for natural stuff, DIY, and I also make lip balm for my shop, I thought I would share a cool recipe I found here, that I changed a little.

So, this is a really cool idea to try. I recommend you have a go! If you want a more simple lip protector, you can simply mix vaseline with an essential oil of your choice, and add some pretty powdered eyeshadow for a tinted lip gloss.

Also, pretty much all natural lip balms have the same thing: beeswax and an oil. You can mix equal parts of these and you will have the start of a lip balm. You have got to make sure the oil you use is right for the recipe. Some oils you can use are: coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil and  jojoba oil, but these are only a few.

In this recipe, there are tons of things that will make your lips feel amazing! Coconut oil, which is known for its moisturising ability and many more things that are amazing and you can find here. Wheatgerm oil, which is super high in vitamin E. Vitamin E helps reduce the effects of sun damage, decreases dryness and helps increase moisture.  It is also a powerful antioxidant and immune system booster. Tea tree oil has amazing healing powers and also helps keep bacteria away.

So... on with the recipe...

Tea tree lip balm

- 1/4 cup beeswax
- 3/4 - 1 cup coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon wheatgerm oil
- 1-2 drops tea tree oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- pots, tubes or tins

1. Combine beeswax and coconut oil

2. Melt either in the microwave or in a double boiler.

3. Add all oils and stir in, while keeping the mixture warm. Test consistency on spoon. If it is too dry, add more olive oil, if it is too oily, add more beeswax.

4. Pour into pots and let set. Now test out your lovely lip balm!

I did a cute label with permanent marker on my tin!

Enjoy your new luscious lips!
