DIY orange sugar scrub

Here in the southern hemisphere winter has ended and summer is coming! An all natural, edible and yummy smelling sugar scrub is just what you need to get your skin ready for summer, or keep it moisturised during the winter. I love love love the smell of this scrub, I have used fresh orange zest and juice and it smells wonderful. I have used white sugar for the exfoliant, coconut oil is amazing for everything and is super moisturising and wheatgerm oil is full of vitamin c so is great for your skin. And, the best thing is you can make it for barely any money, and substitute the ingredients for things you have at home! I will make a list of substitutes or other ideas and recipes at the end.

So, lets get started...

Orange sugar scrub

you will need:

- 3/4 cup white sugar
- the zest and juice of 1/2 an orange
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, melted
- 1 teaspoon of wheatgerm oil
- 4 drops essential oil (if you want)

what to do:

1. Zest your orange.

2. Juice your orange into the same bowl.

3. Mix the orange zest and juice in with the sugar.
4. Add the melted coconut oil, the wheatgerm oil and essential oil. Mix together and give it a try!

this is what mine turned out like:

and the finished product:

I love it! Especially the colour and smell! So, you can use this on your hands, arms and legs and anywhere that feels dry and needs some attention!

If you don't have some of these ingredients, the base for a scrub is an exfoliant like sugar or salt, and an oil. Start with your sugar and mix in oil until you get the consistency you like. You can also add vanilla essence or fruit juice for a nice fragrance and colour.

Hope you get to make some!
