2016 is going to be a big year for me - it’s my last year of school ever. I am taking a very exciting trip in February to check out universities and basically plan the start of the rest of my life. What I do next year will pretty much decide how I am going to live. Pretty scary considering I’m only 17 and I am so introverted I hardly leave my house. I want to take risks next year. I have this desire to explore - I really wish I lived in New York or Paris. Mind you there are too many people there!
Anyway, because next year is hopefully going to be better that 2015, I needed to get myself together with a plan on how I am going to stay motivated and organised for my last school year. I guess being a stationery nerd, the first thing I thought about was getting a 2016 diary.
I always feel silly writing the word diary, because I don’t mean that kind of diary - I mean planning the days of the week diary. I was searching around for one, and I decided I wanted to be as practical as possible. First I was like OMG I need that marble one, but then it was so tiny you could barely open it flat (I hate that… how are you supposed to write in it?) and it had barely any space in it. Not to mention the only reason I liked it was because of the cover, the inside was terribly ugly. I went through many many websites, but of course I kept going back to kikki.K. I wasn’t so keen on most of them and I never ever thought I would go for the bright blue polka-dot one.
The inside is exactly what I wanted. On the left had side it has the weekly view, then on the right it has a ruled page for notes and lists! I love this, because I can write things to do that week etc. on the page and not have to use a seperate notebook. The blue is definitely growing on me, and this diary is the most practical - while still looking pretty. It has a clear plastic cover so it doesn’t get dirty, two ribbon page markers (yes!), monthly view, weekly view and more note pages at the back. I love it! (this isn't even sponsored or anything!?)
Once I had established that I had a sufficient physical form of organisation, the only real thing left was my mindset. Changing your mindset is probably the most important thing when entering the new year, so to help I have made a list of things I want to change/achieve in 2016. You should too - and make sure they are realistic and actually beneficial!
a list of things I want to achieve in 2016
- keep posting here, on my blog. Even when life gets busy; remember it's what you love.
- start saving for life after school
- tell my family I love them everyday
- refine my photography and don't be afraid to change my style
- read as often as possible
- start a portfolio of my work and achievements
- be brave and step outside my comfort zone
I tried to make my goals simple, and achievable because too often than not, goals never work out! Hopefully throughout next year I can do all these things - and I would really love to know your goals for 2016! We can do this together!
Here's to another fresh start, I wish you all the best!
